Check the Integrity of Camping Equipment Before Hitting the Road
8 May
With the warm weather season’s arrival, it is time for campers to begin thinking about experiencing some time in the great outdoors. Selecting a location is only one small part of planning a camping excursion. The equipment required for a weekend of communing with nature, is an important aspect of having a successful trip, and it is wise for potential campers to fully inspect any equipment before hitting the open road.
Regardless of where you store your tent, coolers, sleeping bags and other camping Equipment, they may have damage that is not immediately obvious. Rodents, bugs, and other pests, can gnaw at gear and cause its integrity to be compromised. Break out the tent, and do a trial setup to make sure things are as they should be. Make certain that all of the required stakes, tie downs, and fly away, are present and in working order.
Coolers, sometimes loose their sealing qualities, especially if stored in a high heat environment, such as a garage, or attic. Make sure to check these out while disinfecting and cleaning the device. The drain plug should be effective and the closure seal should be good and tight.
By checking out the primary camping equipment before heading out on a camping trip, it could save a lot of headaches later on, when travelers find themselves in the woods, with dysfunctional camping equipment.
