Fly from Boston to Hamburg and watch Klitschko

29 Jun

Boxing fans all around the world are getting ready for one of the most anticipated fights in recent memory.  All of the bad blood between Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye promises a very brutal and exciting bout between the fighters that will satisfy anybody who is looking for a good fight.

The fight will take place on the second of July so there is still time for you to make travel arrangements to get to Hamburg, Germany from wherever you live.  People from Boston, Massachusetts have a good variety of choices on how to get there, although by plane is the most convenient.  All flights will be leaving from General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport and arrive at Hamburg International Airport.  There are plenty of airlines to choose from so pick one that is cheap but also offers good services.  British Airways offers 1 stop tickets for an economy/coach seat for $1,462 dollars as well as Virgin Atlantic Airlines.  Other companies like American Airlines have the same service for around $2000.

However, if you want to save a little money you can choose to book a flight with 2 or more stops in order to decrease the price.  American Airlines offers the same ticket on a flight with 2 stops for $1,384.  The same goes for LOT – Polish Airlines.  However, the best prices are provided by Delta Airlines, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines who provide an economy seat for a flight with 2 stops from Boston, Massachusetts to Hamburg, Germany for just $988.

If you do not want to fly, there are not many options available to you.  A ferry over the Atlantic is expensive and it is a very long trip.  However, if you are really looking to take the cheapest trip then you can go on a ferry and take your car with you.  You can disembark somewhere in France or the United Kingdom and from there you can drive to Hamburg.

Obviously there is quite a distance to fly from Boston to Hamburg and not many will be determined to do it. However, do not dispear! You can still watch Haye vs Klitschko live online!

Tips for renting a car in Italy

Tips for renting a car in Italy

OK, so renting a car for your vacation in Italy may not seem like the most difficult nor complicated of your pre-holiday tasks. But rest assured that if you don’t get your car rental all sorted out and ready before you arrive at your destination then you’ve got more chance of encountering problems.

If you’re an organised traveller (unlike me, but more like my extremely organised wife) then it’s pretty quick and simple to get your car rental in italy pre-booked well in advance of touchdown.

You’ll have plenty of choice of vehicles with most car rental companies offering a nice variety of cars for you to choose from. You’ve probably already got in mind the type of vehicle you’ll want when you get to Italy but don’t forget to consider fuel economy, passenger numbers and cost . . . It’s probably worth enquiring about any special deals or upgrades available.

One of the biggest things to check up on with your car rental is your terms of insurance. I think that it’s fair to say that you’ll be well covered with most of the big companies, but it’s always worth double checking your policy before you set off to safeguard against any surprises.

Fuel economy is another factor that you’ll want to look closely at, firstly there’s the old eco issue and watching your emissions and then there’s your budget . . . With all that wonderful Italian food around you’d be mad to be spending your money on fuel over Gelato Pistachio!

What are the Best Months for European Travel

What are the Best Months for European Travel

Most people try and plan their vacations around the summer months. This is especially true for many European countries, which possess climates similar to that of the United States. While it’s never a bad time to travel to Europe, the best months may coincide with personal desire, festivals or a love for a specific season. With such variables considered, let’s consider some of the best months for European travel.

Traveling to Europe in the Summer

One thing many people fail to realize when planning their European getaways is that most European countries and cities are susceptible to high temperatures during the summertime, just as most states and cities are in the United States. This is one reason why some people choose to put off visits to certain western European nations to the fall or spring, and why others wish they did after trekking through a several hot days in Paris.

Others use the summer months to wisely explore northern European destinations such as Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the UK. The summer months are perfect for visiting these destinations, as they tend to experience less “tourist friendly” weather in the equinox and winter solstice months.

That being said, it is certainly worth visiting any European nation during the summer, for the sheer joy that summer brings. Locals play to the tourists, and it’s always nice to experience the bloom of any geographic region during the summer, whether traveling by train, or on one of the many Europe cruises.

Germany and Oktoberfest…in September

There are few celebrations that rival Germany’s Oktoberfest. Celebrated throughout the nation, there are huge festivals and celebrations that can be found in the city-centers, as well as in some of Germany’s quaint, countryside towns. For individuals who fancy themselves beer connoisseurs, this is absolutely one of the best months to travel to Europe. If you are interested in the heart of the celebration, it takes place in Munich during the final 16 days of September, usually ending the first Sunday in October.

The Costa del Sol of Spain, and the French and Italian Rivieras

These three regions border the Mediterranean, and they present year round beauty and enjoyment. A visit to these European regions calls for coastal drives, an admiration of the sea and desire to worship a little bit of sunshine. The different seasons offer different cultural feels and different attitudes among the locals.

They are wonderful areas to enjoy the summer’s warm temperatures, and the breezes coming off of the Mediterranean. During the winter, the sun continues to shine and present the coastal regions with mild temperatures and beautiful waters.

European Travel in the Winter – The Alps

Many people plan their European travel in the winter to take in the gorgeous Alpine views, as well as some of the most incredible skiing in the world. Skiers and snow boarders like to pencil the Alps onto their to-do list early, and hope to come back often. In truth, some of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy’s most picturesque mountain towns burst to life with a new energy when covered in snow. If the cold isn’t bothersome, this is a wonderful time of year to travel by train through this European region.

Perks Offered at London Hotels

As a way to generate more customers, many places of business are adding extras to attract more people and hotels are no exception.  Hotels in London are doing what they can to get people to stay with them and The Berkeley has done their part to increase their business.

This hotel now offers an extra amenity for those who stay with them, and the extra is an iPad.  For those who book their accommodations here, the not only get posh quarters, but an iPad as well during their visit.  Those who stay in certain suites will have the use of an iPad that will give them a variety of video, games, comics for their children and also the morning newspapers. You can read the morning paper that offers the Wall Street Journal and the Le Monde.

Also on this device, you can get suggestions as to what places to see during your stay and it can even help you create an itinerary.  Of course, this is an expensive hotel to stay in so purchasing your own iPad would be cheaper then booking your stay here which in US dollars, would be equivalent to $2,800 a night.  It is a nice added benefit is you are staying at this hotel.

The many charms of Nice

The many charms of Nice

Nice is one of the most beautiful towns in modern France. Capital of the French Riviera, its stunning looks and mild Mediterranean weather make any stay in Nice one to remember for many years.

I find that the most attractive cities in the World are either cities that have a lot of History in them, like, for example, Vienna, which has been the stage for so many events in History and has stood for centuries, or cities with a lot of cultural diversity, like Istanbul or the great cultural capitals like New York, Paris or London.

Nice is unique in the way that is combines the two, in a way that’s only rivaled perhaps by Cordoba in Spain. Nice has been around since pre-historic times, with different names and different peoples but roughly in the same place. And it has been owned by Turks, Arabs, French, Italians and Germans, making its architecture a mesh of several different styles. There is, however, a downside to this city being a large metropolis for such a long time – it’s incredibly hard to navigate. Car hire Nice is an obligatory stop for any traveler wanting to get to know the city. And don’t forget to pay up those extra euros for a GPS – you’ll need it.
