Car Upgrades
16 May
Choosing to rent a car for any given reason is always a move people fear. We’ve all been at that place, that we think we’d be more comfortable in a car, but maybe financially it’s not the best option – surely not as good as public transport – and we’re torn between that. Car hire prices seem to fluctuate a little bit from company to company, and there’s definitely a difference between the cars available that makes the choice a little more complicated. Keeping an eye out for deals is essential when renting cars, as well as knowing the ropes of rental companies.
One of the things that’s a red flag is the “upgrade”. When you’re renting a compact car it often happens that the company will offer to upgrade you to a larger car. They’ll probably tell you that they don’t have any more cars in your category, and will bump you one or two categories above for the same price. But this is often not true, the companies just know that they’re the cars in higher demand and want to have a few in stock for late renters. But it doesn’t necessarily need to be a bad thing. Just consider your options and see if the added comfort makes up for the extra gas expenditure.
